Part of a neutral material palette, solid hardwood is a principal ingredient in Gensler’s interior design for furniture dealer Pivot Interiors’s Santa Clara headquarters. Junckers Nordic Oak Classic two-strip is used extensively, both as flooring and on vertical surfaces in the open plan interior, to inject a natural element and visual texture.

Designed to function as a ‘living’ office and showroom, the space includes a mixture of formal and informal areas to showcase a large variety of the Pivot’s products which are used in different layouts to display creative ways of working. Workstations are located around the perimeter with more informal and social spaces towards the middle. An area with tiered seating, also clad in Junckers Nordic Oak, functions as a presentation area, large enough to accommodate the entire staff.

The space benefits from an abundance of natural light flooding through large windows, reducing reliance on artificial light. The pale hue of Nordic Oak reflects lots of natural light throughout the building and the light-coloured surface will prevent overheating which reduces the need for air conditioning systems.

An all-natural material, Junckers solid hardwood flooring will contribute towards a healthy indoor climate by maintaining an even temperature and reducing static. The natural acoustic qualities found in wood will serve a large open space well, lessening any excess noise.
